Design Stories: Anthony Thomas Melillo

Our first edition of design stories features a dear friend of the store, fashion Designer Anthony (Thomas) Melillo. Anthony launched his eponymous brand, ATM, in 2012 with the perfect t-shirt and the brand has since evolved into a full lifestyle collection of luxurious sportswear for men and women. Anthony’s penchant for exquisite style translates into all aspects of his life, including his bed. Tony collaborates with French Press often to deliver the aesthetic he is looking for in his New York City, Miami, and Hamptons homes.

Recently, Tony stopped by French Presse to pull together his bedding for the master bedroom in his Miami apartment. He was looking for bedding that featured relaxed fabrics and “colors that put your mind at ease.”

Our answer for him was a mix of white and pale pink Flocca linen bedding from Melbourne based Hale Mercantile Co. They source their premium grade flax from France and Belgium and make their sheets in their European hide away in the ancient city Riga. Their luxury linens are designed for easy living—naturally softened, making it wonderful on the skin, and highly absorbent. Flocca, their signature line,  comes in a variety of beautiful colors and features a wonderfully ‘tufted’ hand finished edge.

“For me the best thing about walking into my bedroom is to feel at ease with soft beautiful colors or pure whites ..in this particular setting, it’s the pale pink and white that makes it so soft and beautiful. I like layers to give the bed depth. The cashmere throw in a neutral color adds to the layer effect. Soft and comfy is my thing for the bed. Something you want to really just sink into.”
